New Student In Plymouth? We Can Help

 

We offer support to new students, be they home students ( UK) or international.

We will be arranging trips, information about local shops and attractions as well as offering meals and any other support that we can.

It may also be possible to meet you at the bus or train station and guide you to the university.

Below is a list of events we are hosting or helping at each event states a location. if you are unsure where that location is please check this page as it contains map and full details of all the locations.

Tuesday 11th 

Free Cream teas in Chaplaincy lounge - 2.00 - 4.00 pm - organised by the Chaplaincy

a chance to make new friends over a traditional Devon delicacy -
scone, clotted cream and jam. Also a chance to meet Cathsoc members and the Catholic chaplaincy team members .

Trips up St Matthias's tower - highest point in central Plymouth

Fantastic views - not recommended for those with a fear of heights! Also a chance to meet Cathsoc members and the Catholic chaplaincy team members .

 

Thursday 13th September

Just a relaxed evening eating pizza in front of one of the latest DVD releases in the chaplaincy lounge - just turn up. Also a chance to meet Cathsoc members and the Catholic chaplaincy team members .

Walking Tour of Historic Plymouth - 4.00 p.m. Starts outside Sherwell Centre - organised by the Chaplaincy

(about two hours - suitable for mobility impaired students and subject to suitable weather)

Sunday 16th September

Guide Walk To Christ THe King - 5:45pm outside sherwell Centre/ Chaplaincy

If you not sure where Christ the King is meet us between 5:45 and 6pm outside the Sherwell Centre/Chaplaincy and we will show you the best way to get to Christ the King.

Student Mass followed by a free meal -6:30 pm Christ The King

Meet up for a student mass followerd by a free meal where you get a chance to meet other catholci students. Christ the king is the Catholic Church for students to go to.

 

Monday 17th September

Visit the Chaplaincy Stall in the Induction fair - Sherwell centre all day. - organised by the Chaplaincy

Members of CATHSOc should be about wearing our blue T-shirt with CATHSOC - Catholic student society i big print, see if you can spot us. Father trever and other Cahtolic the members Chaplaincy team shoudl also be present.


Free meals for new students -Sherwell Hall 6.00-8.00pm
- organised by the Chaplaincy

No need to book just turn up - always at least one vegetarian option. Also a chance to meet Cathsoc members and the Catholic chaplaincy team members .

meet at chaplaincy 11.00 - bring packed lunch, wear trainers or walking boots and bring £2 for ferry and waterproof clothing just in case

A welcome from the Churches to students new to Plymouth from Churches together in Plymouth

CATHSOC, Christ the King and CAFOD will have stall here, good opportunity to find out more information about any of these groups
