What We Do.
The Catholic Chaplaincy and CATHSOC is made up of students and staff from Plymouth University, UCP Marjon and Plymouth Devon International College who are Catholic or interested in the Catholic faith. All are all welcome!
We come together to explore our faith
and tradition, have fun, share food, pray, enjoy friendship and serve our
community.
Every Sunday we celebrate Mass at Christ the King Church at 11:30am, followed by
a FREE lunch and a trip out or social. It's a great chance to meet new people,
get some exercise and to explore the natural beauty of Devon and Cornwall.
It does not stop there we do a wide range of activities and events and can grantee there will be something for everyone. There not another society that has such a wide range different activities and events

For student who stay in Plymouth over Christmas and Easter which try to ensure they have a Catholic family they can join in with to help them feel at home and not to be alone.

Below is the list of most but not all the activities we do, some are weekly other are frequent and some are one off events not to be missed. We do a wide range of things which means there always something for everyone, if we not doing something you want to do let us know and we will do our best to do it.

| Sunday Student Mass 11:30am - Mass at Christ the king followed by a shared lunch ran by student for students only one in Plymouth. | Buckfast Abbey Retreat - Weekend retreat to Buckfast Abbey, we join up with students from Exeter learn more about our faith during the day and sample the locals beers come night. |
| Sunday Walk 2pm start - Walk somewhere in Devon or Cornwall every week that weather permits. | Rome Retreat - this year we hope to do a retreat to Rome details TBC |
| Sunday Evening Social 7pm - nothing better after a walk to hit a pub for a meal and drink, don't have to have done the walk to come along. | Camping and Watersport Weekend - Come the end of 3rd term we run a trip to a local campsite where you can try water sports for free. |
| Weekday Mass Wednesday 6PM University Multi Faith Chaplaincy - Weekday mass followed by a trip to the pub afterwards. | SUP (Stand Up Paddling) - For people who like water sports a fanatic opportunity to have a go at SUP and paddle up one of our beautiful calm creeks we have dotted around our coast. |
| Tuesday Music Group 6PM University Multi Faith Chaplaincy - Music practice for people of all abilities, instruments or singing. | Sponsored Walk - Chance to really stretch the legs and raise money for CAFOD |

| Evening Social - Once a month we meet up for a meal at one of the restaurants offer a special deal normally to celebrate a members birthday. | |
| Full Day Walk - We take a whole day to do a walk, this allows us to go further afield and have longer more complex router that we would not have time to do after mass on Sunday. | |

| Day Trips - We will choose a site/attraction to go and see that otherwise students would not get a chance to see themselves. In the past we have done, many small costal visages down in Cornwall such a Polperro or St Ives; we have also done trips to Tintagel the birth place of King Further | |
| Ethnic Sunday Meal - CATHSOC members come from all around the world, we are probably one of the most varied groups out there, this gives us a chance once a month to come together and everyone cooks something from their home country/county. Great chance to try food you would not have come across before. | |
