General information
Welcome to the website of Plymouth Catholic Society and Plymouth Catholic Chaplaincy. Our member base comes mainly from University of Plymouth (UoP) and University College Plymouth St Mark & St John (Marjon), but we support all higher education establishments in Plymouth and surrounding area.
We welcome people of all faiths and those of no faith to come and join in with any of our events. Offering hospitality is an important part of our faith and we are pleased that we regularly have a very diverse group of people that attend. This allows us to build interfaith understanding and relations in addition to developing understanding of different cultural background and heritages and through this process enrich all our lives.
That said we are a mainly a society of Catholic students and staff who meet for worship, to grow in our Faith and to socialise together. Plymouth CathSoc combines the spiritual and social aspect of the Catholic faith. We aim to encourage fellowship through the celebration of mass and spiritual and social events. We also support the work the University’s Catholic Chaplain, and the rest of the Chaplaincy community. We are open to students and staff in Higher Education in Plymouth. It is free to join our society. All students and staff alike are welcome to join
Please join us at our social and spiritual events! We would like to meet you.
We place our life together under the intercessory prayer of St Bede the Venerable, whose feast we solemnly keep at the end of the final term! He was an Englishman of great learning, a priest and doctor of the church. St Bede pray for us.
